Amberia structure proposal
Amberia:

Overview:
Amberia is an advanced imperial nation with a homeland blessed with a geographical location ideal to allow it to benefit from the trade transit from the Stolvic Ocean, the inner seas and straight between Stoldavia and the Emther homelands. A benefit that has allowed it to accumulate wealth and ideas to refine and develop its technological, cultural and military might.

Amberia is a traditionally an Orkanan nation that shares a lot of cultural similarities with other Orkanan nations but its culture and traditions are influenced by those of immigrants from other lands and faiths. Many Amberians from immigrant communities mostly found along its coasts and large cities trace their heritage to foreign traders, sailors, refugees, foreign labourers and their families and many of such communities still hold on to their beliefs and cultural traditions.

Native Amberians have forged a recognised merchant/maritime culture but are also known for their progressive arts and sciences, its arts and the Amberian “Style” often at the forefront of fashion.

Currently Amberia is a large and mighty empire with a small homeland compared to its colonial holdings, the empire itself centres on trade and control of strategic straights interconnecting the various oceans of Gotha, where the empire can control the flow of goods into and from Anarian nations to the world and expansion of empires into certain regions of the planet. Thereby making Amberian powers over trade, prices and foreign expansion to be reckoned with or absolute to lesser nations.

Politics:

Amberia is an elective monarchy where the emperor rules for life after being elected from a council represented by the heads of the royal houses of Amberia, the royal houses are traditional land holding or merchant Orkanan families with ancient bloodline ties to the legendary (X figure).

Amberian elections do not represent the entire Amberian population; the only people allowed to vote are those who are wealthy, landed, of royal blood or possess an official distinction. Government officials are appointed by the ruling monarch and his house, who in turn select the civil service.

History:

Amberia traces its roots to the Orkanan expansion over north Anaria whose hordes invaded and converted primitive populations to the then new faith. Amberian lands where progressively conquered through naval incursions where coastal villages would be conquered and form enclaves from where nearby lands would be progressively settled, traded with and conquered. slowly including the intruded lands into the enclaves dominion.

The establishment of Amberia is attributed to (X figure) which united the enclave kingdoms under his own banner through several military campaigns and marriage links, A figure now part of Amberian identity and folklore attributed with characteristics of bravery and honour. Following the establishment of unified proto-Amberian kingdom the inner lands helped supply the kingdom with timber and resources to maintain a navy that allowed the fledgling kingdom to repel foreign forces from invading.
Progressively its navy allowed Amberia to control nearby trade and to create a merchant fleet that would allow it to expand its influence into the Anarian inner seas and its coasts.
A century of stability and complacency caused the Amberians to relax their defences even though northwards the first Stolvic Empire was forming, eventually the coalesced Stolvic Empire turned its attention southwards and overwhelmed Amberian defences. For the duration of first empire Amberia remained a client state that eventually broke free as the empire decayed.

During the second Stolvic empire era Amberia managed to repel the empires domination but not its influence, an era attributed with helping to develop Amberian merchant tradition as commerce was the only way it could assert its influence without resorting to military action that could antagonize the second Stolvic Empire.

During the following centuries after the second empire Amberia asserted its influence over weak trade partners and many small kingdoms and city states as vassals but never integrated them. Its classic and fine culture developed, began to send exploration fleets to map the world to map it and explore exotic lands and peoples.

During the PAW Amberia played an antagonistic role as it resorted to military action to resolve an antagonistic relationship with the Hellish kingdom that had been developing over decades, often resorting to forcing client states to come to its aid, leading to the spread of the war into far flung Anarian corners.
At the conclusion of the PAW Amberia lost many client states but its political structure remained intact.

Population:

62% Orkanan, 33% “covenant” (from immigrants belonging to nearby lands), 5% other faiths.

Amberians ethnically are mostly Cheltai with a large Dolmer heritage; other Amberians are descended from various other Ethnic groups but well integrated.

Cooperation:

Well in general it would be preferable to avoid complex and tedious structures, procedures, polls and rules and we should play it as we have so far played Gotha and come up with decisions. Basically we all discuss stuff on the Gotha chat, forum and come with mutual storylines.
Wiki development will happen organically (buzz word hehe) within the spirit that Amberia would be.

We can’t “Rule” the nation individually through an elected leader since the Gothan time speed makes it prohibiting and unrealistic to have a new monarch every month or so. Strict election schedules would also make it cumbersome since it would force everyone to be available at the same times with the same level of participation regardless of RL commitments.

And anyway the point is not to rule but to create and develop together in harmony in a way that will enrich Gothan history and game play.

Amberian flag (based on tommys flag suggestions):
