Decorations of the Styrkene, the military of Aedeland, include awards, usually a medal of some sort, given to an individual or unit as a distinctively designed mark of honor denoting heroism, meritorious or outstanding service or achievement.

Decorations for Merit

Decorations for merit are awarded for individual honors and achievements in combat. They are authorized and awarded by the Fører on the advice of the Styrkene High Command, Overkommando av Styrkene.

Ribbon Description Notes
Fyrir Verðleika
The Fyrir Verðleika is Aedeland's highest order of merit awarded in three classes strictly as a recognition of extraordinary personal achievement, valour, or heroism the face of the enemy. The the lowest is awarded for actions leading directly to the the capture or successful defense of a fortification, or victory in a battle. The second order, designated by oak leafs, is awarded to field commanders who fulfilled the above requirement. The highest order, known as the Grand Cross, is awarded to those, who through their actions, caused the retreat or destruction of an army. The Fyrir Verðleika is an "order", in which a person is admitted into membership, and should not be referred to as a "medal" or "decoration". Only officers of the Styrkene are eligible. Recipients are given the title Riksgreve, may use the post-nominal letters F.V., are granted an Ættsrett and annuity, state burial privileges, and are exempted from taxation for life. The physical symbol of the award is a red-enameled cross pattée with silver laurels. The words "Fyrir Verðleika ("For Merit" in Old Aedelish) written in silver letters on the body of the cross. The cross is struck from swords captured during the siege of Skiöldavik in 6235.
Ordenen av Sacré Trús
The Ordenen av Sacré Trú is Aedeland's oldest military order, established by the Konge of Ælsatia during the Korstog for å Achilleio (Achilleion Crusade). It is awarded in recognition of exceptional valour in support of the Salvede Trú. The order is awarded in five degrees: Keiser/ Konge (King), Fürst (Prince), Jarl (Earl), Riksherre (Baron), Skutilsveinr (Knight), and Þegn (Gentleman). Bestowing the honor was originally a royal prerogative and this tradition is continued today as the prerogative of the Fører. The order is represented by a red Aedelant cross bordered white and black surrounded by silver laurels on a white enameled mullet of twelve points bordered in silver. Higher orders become increasingly ornate with expensive jeweled decoration.
Æðelheltemot
The Æðelheltemot, also called the Æðelkorset, is Aedeland's highest highest decoration of merit that may be awarded to other ranks and foreign allies. It is awarded for valour in the face of the enemy. Recipients are given the title Riksfriherre and are granted burial privileges as well as an annuity. The physical symbol of the award is a black enameled cross pattée with a silver trim. The word "Æðelheltemot" is inscribed in silver letters on the obverse. The cross is struck from canons captured in the liberation of Vesturland in 7156.
Ren Spyd
The Ren Spyd is a ceremonial spear awarded for saving the life of a fellow Aedelman. The spear is made with polished white ash and has a ornamental head. The metal used varies according to the circumstances of the act. The spear bears an inscription with the name of the recipient, the date of the act, and "For redning av liv" (for the saving of life). The post-nominal letters R.S. may be used by recipients.
Blod Ære
The Blod Ære is awarded to those of any rank wounded in combat. The medal consist of a black pressed steel disk with a scene of a ancient injured mythical hero. The obverse includes an inscription of the name of the recipient.

Decorations for Service

Decorations for service are awarded for achievements in times of war and peace that are not necessarily life threatening. Such decorations are authorized and awarded by regimental commanders.

Ærekorset
The Ærekorset (Honor Cross) is awarded for meritorious achievement in service to the Styrkene in times of war. It is awarded in recognition of a singular exceptional achievement. The medal consist of a domed five-pointed white star bordered in red, points reversed with v-shaped extremities and the inscription "For meritterende prestasjon" (for meritorious achievement) over a silver laurel.
Roset
The Roset (Commendation Cross) is awarded for meritorious service to the Styrkene in times of war. The cross is awarded in recognition of the totality of an individual's efforts supporting the wartime mission of the Styrkene. The medal consists of a domed five-pointed red enameled star bordered in white, points reversed with v-shaped extremities with the inscription "For meritterende tjeneste" (for meritorious service).
Krig Medalje
The Krig Medalje is awarded for combat service in any capacity. The medal consists of a maltese cross cast from barrels of retired combat rifles.

Campaign Decorations

Campaign decorations are awarded for honorable service in a specific campaign. Often campaign decorations commemorate participation in a historic or otherwise significant event. Such decorations are authorized and awarded by regimental commanders.

Sørland 7498
The Sørland 7498 was presented to the 453 officers and men who survived the sinking of the Sørland on 9 April 7498. The medal is blued steel recovered the Sørland wreckage. The front of the medal has the image of a siren wearing flowing drapery suspended as if underwater with her arms reaching above. The reverse is inscribed Vi har servert vår dag (We have served our day). The wives and mother's of the 262 officers and men who died were presented with an annuity and a miniaturized version of the medal with the inscription Jeg har drept ingen bortsett min kjærlighet. Hun døde av sorg for meg. (I have slain none except my Love. She died of grief for me.).
Stjernen i 7498
The Stjernen i 7498 (Star of 7498) was awarded to officers and men of the Aldsegian Empire who belonged to the pre-war Styrkene and served as part of the expeditionary force sent to the Hattoro Straits in 7498. The medal is a silver star mounted with crossed swords over an oak laurel with the date 7498 at its base. The ribbon is the red and yellow of the Auresian Scarlet Standard.
Strålende Krig
The Strålende Krig (Glorious War) was awarded to officers and men of he Aldsegian Empire who served in the Styrkene from 7498 to 7552. The medal is a silver round with the image of Ædélaïde, a female personification of Aedeland, wearing the helmet of the Life Guards upon her brow. The reverse is inscribed A avslutte alle (To end all wars). Edge lettering gives the name of the medal and the dates of the Pan-Anarian War.
Freden i Ålesund
The Freden i Ålesund (Peace of Ålesund) was presented to officers and men of the Aldsegian Empire who served to the conclusion of the Pan-Anarian War in commemoration of the truce.. The medal was created as a result of an international agreement at the Peace Conference immediately preceding the Treaty of Ålesund. the medal is a silver round with the image of Pax, the personification of peace, holding an olive branch. The reverse is inscribed Alt er ikke tapt (All is not lost).
Hagen-Dazs
The Hagen-Dazs is presented to officers and men of the Alsegian Empire who participated in the Three Way Conflicts. The medal is a bronze round with the image of a trunkbull. The reverse is inscribed A sikre varig fred (to secure lasting peace). The ribbon is the purple and yellow of the Hagen flag.
Frigjøringen av Øst Villand
The Frigjøringen av Øst Villand (The Liberation of East Villand Medal) is presented to officers and men of the Aldsegian Empire who participated in the recapture of East Villand during the Three Way Conflicts. The medal is a white enameled mullet of eight points with an image of winged personification of victory within a round at its center. The mullet is suspended by an ornate clasp inscribed with Æðelantë forente (Aedeland United).
Ekspedisjon til den Ytre Transvaal
The Ekspedisjon til den Ytre Transvaal (Expedition to Outer Transvalia) is presented to officers and men of the Aldsegian Empire who participated in the doomed search for a route to the Phasian via Southern Tzeraka. The medal is a silver round with the image of a disembodied arm grasping an assegai. The reverse is inscribed "ingenting er oppnådd uten offer" (nothing is gained without sacrifice).
Al Fajr
The Al Fajr is presented to officers and men of the Aldsegian Empire who participated in the Muwaddimah expedition to secure the Western Hanniyahs. The medal is a gilded bronze round with the image of the Ithrieni burning Min-headed Aroth . The reverse is inscribed with Arofara Ina (raiseth us).

Unit Citations and Honors

Unit citations and honors are awarded by the Styrkene High Command, Overkommando av Styrkene, or the Fører for a military unit's specific and outstanding performance, notably in battle. Alternatively or concurrently, the unit can be awarded an honorary title. Usually entire regiments are honored though it is possible for subunits to be honored specifically.

Førerens Sitering
The Førerens Sitering (Fører's Citation) is awarded to units for extraordinary heroism, gallantry, determination, and esprit de corps in action against an armed enemy under extremely difficult and hazardous conditions so as to set it apart from and above other units participating in the same campaign.
Feltmartial sin Sitering
The Feltmartial sin Sitering (Field Martial's Citation) is awarded to units for meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding service, heroic deeds, or valorous actions.
Slåss Ære
A Slåss Ære (Battle Honor) is awarded to a unit for distinguished service in a specific battle or engagement. Typically only one unit is given a Slåss Ære for a particular instance and not every battle fought will automatically result in the granting of a Slåss Ære'. Only in the most rare instances will the Slåss Ære' be shared between two units.
Kampanje Ære
A Kampanje Ære (Campaign Honor) is awarded to units for honorable service in a specific campaign. The honor is represented by a streamer is made of moiré silk that identical to the ribbon of the corresponding campaign decoration.
