This article is about the criminal syndicate known as the 'Brothers of Mercy'. For the Orkanan exemplars, see Sisters of Mercy.

The Fratelli della Misericordia (Hallish: The Brothers of Mercy), also sometimes known as the Fratelli di Lamona (Brothers of Lamona), is an Anisoran criminal syndicate and fratellanza ('Brotherhood') based in Pena. The Brothers of Mercy fratellanza was founded in 7543 and is centred around the feared Lamona-Erza crime stim. The group's current leader, or Director, is Luisa Lamona-Erza, who is known as 'Big Brother' to members of the fratellanza, and is infamous for being one of the most ruthless criminals in Anisora.

The fratellanza takes its name from the Orkanan group of exemplars the Sisters of Mercy. The fratellanza is known for referencing the Sisters of Mercy texts, which form part of The Scriptures, the collection of texts sacred in Orkanan. The reputation of the Brothers, especially under the current Director Luisa Lamona-Erza, as one of the most ruthless fratellanze in Anisora has led to many viewing the group's ruthlessness as a perverse inversion of the Sisters' mercy - with many priests and laypeople alike considering the group inherently blasphemous. They often leave passages of the sacred text to mark a particular crime as the work of the Brothers of Mercy, with their 'mercy' becoming synonymous with their 'wrath'. The group also maintains a tradition of keeping the Stim Council (Consiglio di Casa) limited to six members, excluding the Director, who each take a mascilanised form of the names of the Orkanan Sisters of Mercy as a codename: Alicio (Adeleis), Emerentio (Ermana), Vallentino (Vallentina), Mario (Marriandra), Lucretio (Lukrissa), or Susanno (Sunsanna).

The group dates back to the 7540s and was at the height of its power during the 7550s after the Pan-Anarian War, when the group under the leadership of Mario Lamona-Erza managed to recruit a large and hugely loyal group of criminals who he saved from the depths of poverty in Post-War Pena. The fortunes of the fratellanza diminished in the 7560s after a protracted gang war with the Fratelli di Herberto ('Brothers of Harbard'). The war has created a cycle of reciprocal violence with the declaration of a vendetta in 7565 resulting in the assassination of a number of the inner-stim membership. A truce was called in 7569 but has since been broken by Luisa Lamona-Erza, who restarted the vendetta in 7574 by personally attacking a son of Frederico Dorveno, leader of the Brothers of Harbard - for which she went to jail. Serving six years in prison for aggravated assault between 7574 and 7580, she continued to run the fratellanza from her cell during her incarceration via conduit guards on her payroll. The group remains at war with the Fratelli di Herberto today and have been in alliance with the Black Roses fratellanza since 7577.

The Brothers of Mercy's criminal activities include: racketeering, drug trafficking, murder, corruption, kidnapping, gambling, prostitution, robbery, fraud, weapons trafficking, human trafficking, loan sharking, contract killing, bookmaking, bootlegging, extortion, money laundering, and fencing, among others. The fratellanza controls much of southern and western Pena and are currently using the ongoing war and vendetta against the Fratelli di Herberto to expand their control in eastern Pena and Redagno. The Brothers also operate in Arrento, controlling much of the underground activities in the west of the city where they compete for territory with the Banda della Doransina fratellanza.
