While most parties often espouse an expressed ideology or vision bolstered by a written platform with specific goals, this is not the case with the political factions and platforms active in Vittmark. Due to the recent age of the federal democratic institutions and the nation as a whole, the vast majority of parties are connected to a region, nation or noble family. They do however have different ideologies, which serve the interest of the particular member state the most.

Parti De Lidh (litterally "the party of members") started out as the largest faction in federal parliament in 7568. It has its stronghold in Liden, the most populous and urbanized member state. Influence by the Av Månsta noble family is obvious, the party leadership contains mainly members from this family. De Lidh is striving to a less formal confederation as state form, giving Liden more room to manoeuver as an industrial and trading nation. Main federal tasks include border security and rules for internal affairs (like the present day monetary union), but De Lidh wants the federal government to be as limited as possible. During the first campaign, it used dark red as color.

At the inauguration of the Federal Parliament, De Lidh was by far the largets party faction with almost a quarter of the seats occupied by its followers. Since late 7573, the party has suffered from the removal of Magnus av Månsta from power. An alternative party for the Lidenite interests has emerged outside the old clan. De Lidh is still operational, with influence in many Av Månsta strongholds, but its vision and strategy are less clear today. It has also isolated the faction in parliament, stating an opposition role. Since its start it has used dark, burgundy red in its visual communication.

Loialitetslistan ("Loyalist List") is a pro-federative party which supports the Av Kulla family as its leaders. Compared to the previous three parties, it has a more constructive and positive view on the federation. It is in favor of federally owned state businesses as a mean to invoke economical growth and create a federal budget, as well as an instrument to instignate economic growth. The Loyalists want to impose an indirect income tax on the member states, which would mean a transfer of money to a higher level. They use the color orange.

The party's supporters can be found mainly in the south, but recently has seen a breakthrough in urban areas as well. Öppen Lista ("Open List") is a gathering of independant members of parliament. Their common denominator is the opposition against the major parties from the large member states, which makes them pro-federative. It does however want to limit the tasks of the federal government to border security, internal security and foreign affairs. As such, the Independant are more outspoken supporters of free trade as a concept than other parties. Independant members tend to identify themselves with the color white.

Sörmarkspartiet (literally "Party from the Southern Borderlands") is a modernist party from the south, which has its support mainly among the members of Fjällsta Stift. Its main ambition was that it wants to transform the southern territories into a single member state, under a secular and democratic government. They were successful in achieving the goal when Sörmark has entered the federation in March 7570, instead of the three southern territories. The party has since have moved its attention more towards a democratic basis for all forms of government.

The political parties in Vittmark are the political organizations that seek to influence government policy of Vittmark, especially on the federal level. The word "party" does not apply to most of the designated factions within federal parliament, only Folkrörelsen (People's Movement) is a political party in the strict sense of the word.

On the lower level of the member states there are hardly any parties active, since the government bodies are mostly non-partisan. Its members tend to get elected indirectly in a first-past-the-post system. In some of the territories, experiments with party lists are conducted though. These are the states with a more mixed background, lik Sörmark, Kletudde, Kram, Kopparbruk and Östervallen.

De Lidh

Parti De Lidh (litterally "the party of members") started out as the largest faction in federal parliament in 7568 but has gradually decreased in importance since 7572.

Folkrörelsen

Folkrörelsen ("People's Movement") is a modernist party with its supporters mainly concentrated in large industrial towns in Hagen, Ådalen and Liden. It is the only party which wants to further integrate the member states, leading to a lot more federal tasks and influences. For example in economic development, education and infrastructure, the federal government should be pro-active. The People's Movement wants to bring the majority of raw materials and infrastructure under federal control, in order to redistribute business opportunities and wealth along the nation. Surplus from selling and treatment of raw materials should be the main federal income, as well as wealth (property) tax. The People's Movement presents itself with the color dark blue.

Among traditionalist parties, the People's Movement is seen as a Häverist faction, more specifically directly related to the Voice of the People movement within Commonwealth Häverism. However, the People's Movement's aim towards further federalization does not support that assumption, but the comparison probably is mainly used to frighten off voters. In parliament the party representatives tend to agree with those of Sörmarkspartiet, even though the People's Movement is not part of the coalition government. All in all it is a pretty maarginal movement in Vittmarker politics, with the exception of some localities.

Haga Framtid

Haga Framtid ("Hagens Future") has its base in the former nation state of Hagen, which currently is divided into two member states. Hagen is in favor of the federation of Vittmark, but ambivalent about its goals and the extend of its tasks. It supports joint infrastructure projects, since both Hagenite states were poorly connected with the other member states. During the first campaigns, Framtid has used the colors yellow and purple to identify itself. Lately only purple is used.

HF has put itself in the centre of Vittmarker politics, balancing modernism and conservatism, as well as urbanism and ruralism. It tends to agree with points of view with the Loyalists, which nowadays forms the basis of coalition government.

Iunsala Förbundet

Iunsala Förbundet ("Union of Yunsala") has its powerbase in Ådalen. The name refers to the seat of the Ådahl noble family, the township of Iunsala within the capital Äs. IF was even more radical in its point of view on the federation, which according to their original point of view should be dismantled. The federal territories should be divided among the member states. IF identifies itself by a bright red color.

IF representatives have been absent from Federal Parliament between 7569, when Göran Ådahl singlehandedly declared Ådalen independant, and 7572, when his successor Ulla Ådahl decreed that presence in Östervallen is necessary to accomplish independance.

In 7573, Ådalen signed a Free Association Treaty with Vittmark, officially ending its position as absolute opponent of the federation. The aim still is to keep the federal level of government as limited as possible, as well as to steer federal investments towards the member state. The idea of dividing the federal territories is no longer viable, since they have entered the federation as member states after the ratification of the new Constitution of Vittmark in 7574. In that sense, the political views of the party have become more moderate. Since then it is serving as a solid coalition partner.

Loialitetslistan

Loialitetslistan ("Loyalist List") is a pro-federative party which supports the Av Kulla family as its leaders. Compared to the other large parties (HF, IF, DL), it has a more constructive and positive view on the federation. It is in favor of federally owned state businesses as a mean to invoke economical growth and create a federal budget, as well as an instrument to instignate economic growth. The Loyalists want to impose an indirect income tax on the member states, which would mean a transfer of money to a higher level. They use the color orange.

Originally, the Loyalists were a rather marginal political movement with its support confined to Kulla and Östvallen. But after having proved itself as a stable factor in politics, it has gradually extended its support in the south, the younger member states of Kram and Kletudde, as well as urban areas in general. As supporter of the royal family, it has tight relations with Sörmarkspartiet, the political movement started by Queen Anna's husband Palne Kristersson. In parliament, the two parties form one faction. At elections, candidates tend to identify with only one of the parties though.

Lundéns Allians för Liden

In the spring of 7573 a new party was built in Liden around Östen Av Månsta Lundén. He presented himself as the figurehead of the opposition against the ruling Av Månsta clan of his nephew Magnus av Månsta. During the by-elections that same year, the party gained representation in federal parliament. The Alliance set up its own government in those areas of Liden that no longer support Av Månsta. It has attracted some of the independant representatives from Liden as well.

On the federal level, the Alliance is the most pro-federation of any party connected to a larger member state. It has actively transferred command of the Liden Navy to the federal level, for example. The Alliance is using federal investments in infrastructure to strengthen its position within Liden. Especially the broad gauge railway backbone is used as leverage for support. In that sense, the Alliance can be seen as a modernist movement, where local self determination and level playing field are the main ideological standpoints.

Since Lundéns represents the people of Liden, Vittmark's largest member state, it was inevitable that they would be included in the coalition government in 7574.

Moderata Vägen

In the spring of 7574 candidate-MP's in Sörmark started identifying themselves as "the moderate alternative" or "the moderate way". This in contrast to the Loyalists, who due to their alliance with Sörmarkspartiet no longer was seen as representative for the interests of the landowning stims in Sörmark. The traditional leadership, which has emerged during the Pan-Anarian War and the Three Way Conflicts, clearly see the Loyalists as a potential threat to their claim for power. As moderate candidates stated themselves:

 • The federal government is out for your money, our money, and is using a bank reform to get to it. If you want to loose 25% of your income, then go ahead and vote Loyalist.
 • All the jobs in Lovis Bruk go to Freethinkers these days. They are exploiting our lands, our raw materials, living the good life based on our property rights.
 • Why is our capital in the back yard of Queen Anna, outside of Sörmark? That doesn't make sense whatsoever. We want to move our own capital to Grönspång, out of the clutches of the federalists and freethinkers."

At the moment, the Moderate Way is the dominant political factor in Sörmark, mainly due to the fact that members of Fjällsta Stift are not eligible to vote for two of the three chambers of regional government. The Landsting which covers territorial and terrestrial matters is by far the dominant denominator of regional politics and the landless Fjällsta Stift members are excluded there. Other clearly anti-loyalist independants have joined the movement since.

Sörmarkspartiet

Sörmarkspartiet (literally "Party from the Southern Borderlands") is a modernist party from the south, which has its support among the members of Fjällsta Stift. Its main ambition was that it wanted to transform the southern territories into a single member state, under a secular and democratic government. They were successful in achieving the goal when Sörmark has entered the federation in March 7570, instead of the three southern territories. The party has since have moved its attention more towards a democratic basis for all forms of government.

Another main issue is infrastructure, which should be available for multiple entrepreneurs. Usage fees are seen as an important federal income. This puts them between the Loyalists and People's Movement ideologically speaking. Since most other parties have started using colors, Sörmarkspartiet has started using green. Even Sörmarkspartiet has been accused of ties with Häverism.

Since the foundation of Sörmark as a member state, Sörmarkspartiet has intensified its cooperation with the Loyalists. This includes joint opposition candidates within the largest member states, but also a close cooperation between both factions in parliament. Curiously enough, Sörmarkspartiet isn't represented in the regional government of Sörmark, because most of its supporters are not eligible to vote in the new member state.

Öppen Lista

Öppen Lista ("Open List") is a gathering of independant members of parliament. Their common denominator is the opposition against the major parties from the large member states, which makes them pro-federative. It does however want to limit the tasks of the federal government to border security, internal security and foreign affairs. As such, the Independant are more outspoken supporters of free trade as a concept than other parties. Independant members tend to identify themselves with the color white.
